DISCOVERY GREEN AT DISCOVERY PLACE, BURNABY

Discovery Place is a 100 acre research and development park in Burnaby, located between Canada Way and Willingdon Ave. The design of Discovery Green by Tom Bunting, as well as the Master Plan and Rezoning of this multi building redevelopment, was just one of several building projects over a number of years.
The first LEED Platinum commercial building in Vancouver, this elegant and functional L-shaped building is regarded as one of the greenest commercial buildings in Western Canada. Discovery Green incorporates a wealth of innovative sustainable technologies, which integrate the building’s internal systems into a highly efficient, cost effective machine. These systems monitor and micro-manage air quality, heating and ventilation, lighting, water usage, and storm water recycling. The health and welfare of occupants is integral to the design of the building. Locally produced and recycled materials have been used throughout and finishing materials such as carpets, paints, and paneling have been carefully selected to minimize off-gassing from volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). This attractive daylit building provides direct connectivity to the outdoors, with panoramic views of the City of Burnaby and the Coast Mountains.
